See How Ebac Compares In Our Dehumidifier Review
Ebac tops dehumidifier reviews on Trust Pilot, read how we do so well.
Cheap dehumidifiers will not last
There are many low-cost dehumidifiers available. We have tested them all – they are made from cheap plastic and cheap components and not optimised for the UK climate. They may last a few months but they will not last and will not solve your problem in the long term.
Made in China are not UK climate optimised
Today most dehumidifiers are made in China and are made to a specification that suits all European countries. The UK has a wet, temperate climate, not suffering from extremes of heat or cold. Our weather means that we suffer from condensation and dampness in the winter. Ebac dehumidifiers are configured differently to work in UK homes to control condensation compared to working in tropical conditions. Our 50 years of extensive experience, expert knowledge and on-going research allow us to ensure Ebac dehumidifiers are the most effective within the UK.
Desiccant is not right for domestic applications
The two primary dehumidifiers on the market today are desiccant dehumidifiers and compressor (sometimes known as refrigeration) dehumidifiers. Each of these two types of dehumidifiers have unique attributes that make them suitable for different applications depending on the prevailing conditions. Ebac manufacture both types of dehumidifiers and are best placed to give completely impartial advice. We do not recommend desiccant dehumidifiers for use in domestic applications. They do remove a lot of water but most of it is unnecessary and they are very expensive to run.
Control system is key, don’t use a humidistat
In order to run efficiently a humidistat needs constant adjustment. The appropriate relative humidity varies through the day based on factors such as the external temperature, moisture created and temperature in the home. Ebac’s Smart Control takes a reading every hour and decides whether to run or not based on the history of humidity in the home. Thereby minimizing costs whilst solving the problem. A humidistat-controlled dehumidifier will almost certainly run more often than it should and cost the user a substantial amount in running costs with no benefit. In practice, a humidistat-controlled desiccant dehumidifier will consume even more than £150.
The water container is important
At Ebac, we recommend that you empty the water container on your dehumidifier daily so that it can perform at the highest ability. To do this, you need to make sure that the water container on the dehumidifier you are buying is properly sealed with a handle. Many are not, which can be inconvenient and messy when emptying daily. Ebac dehumidifier’s water containers are well-sealed and have a handle for easy removal and water disposal.
